Our origin

The casework revealed a practical technology gap.

The early idea for Chain Trace Labs developed alongside conversations arising from Tech Legal's Web3 advisory work. Those discussions provided useful context around fraud, disputed transactions, compliance questions and recovery pathways.

Blockchain evidence was often fragmented across explorers, screenshots, spreadsheets and specialist tools. Clients needed more than a transaction graph. Their lawyers, investigators and compliance counterparts needed a defensible record: what happened, what could be verified, what remained uncertain and what action might follow.

That context helped shape Chain Trace Labs as a distinct forensic technology platform where on-chain analysis, OSINT, evidence handling, workflow, reporting and escalation support can live together.

01

Listen to the cases

Web3 client conversations revealed recurring difficulty converting technical activity into usable evidence.

02

Define the gap

The market had powerful data tools, but many users still lacked accessible forensic workflow and clear outputs.

03

Build the bridge

Chain Trace Labs brought legal context, technical architecture and operational discipline into one platform.

The problem we chose

Data alone does not move a case forward.

Useful forensic work must connect observable blockchain facts to evidence preservation, human review and the legitimate process available next.

What people were facing

Powerful data. Fragmented action.

Wallet activity in one place, communications in another, case tasks in spreadsheets and legal drafting disconnected from the underlying evidence.

What Chain Trace Labs builds

One evidence-led case workflow.

Tracing, OSINT, evidence custody, analyst tasks, monitoring, legal outputs and clear reporting organised around the same case record.

People behind the platform

Three disciplines. One standard of accountability.

The founding leadership combines Web3 systems, cross-border legal context and financial discipline—the perspectives that shaped the original gap.

Historical context

Industry conversations helped reveal the gap.

Tech Legal's Web3 advisory work provided early exposure to recurring questions around disputed transactions, regulatory response and evidence quality. Those insights form one part of the Chain Trace Labs history—not its present identity.

Chain Trace Labs has a distinct purpose, operating model and forensic responsibility. Legal advice and forensic analysis remain separately scoped, while both benefit from a practical understanding of digital-asset matters.

What motivates us

Build what we wished clients already had.

The motive is practical: reduce confusion, preserve better evidence and help the right professional understand what can—and cannot—be done next.

01

Clarity before complexity

Explain the finding in language the intended reader can use.

02

Evidence before claims

Separate observed facts, sourced intelligence and analyst inference.

03

Workflow before spectacle

Build for the work after the graph: review, preserve, assign and escalate.

04

Limits remain visible

No recovery guarantee, no automatic identity claim and no wallet custody.

Expertise behind the work

Real people connect the technical finding to the real-world decision.

Chain Trace Labs is led by people who understand that a blockchain investigation is never only a graph. It involves technology, legal context, financial judgement and responsibility to the person or institution relying on the result.

Technical leadership

Can the evidence be reproduced?

Architecture, data quality and workflow controls are designed around reviewable forensic work—not visual complexity for its own sake.

Legal leadership

Can the finding be used responsibly?

Limitations, jurisdictional context and legitimate escalation paths remain visible when technical observations become reports or referrals.

Financial leadership

Can the organisation deliver sustainably?

Financial discipline supports responsible growth, operational resilience and investment in the controls sensitive casework requires.

Leadership remains accountable.Technology assists the investigation. Qualified people remain responsible for reviewing evidence, stating limitations and deciding what leaves the platform.
